The One and Only One-Question Practice Test

JUST WHAT Y'ALL HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR:

Presenting . . . the long-awaited, much-debated, infamous, extraordinary ONE-QUESTION PRACTICE TEST!!!!!!!!!!!

This is just what y'all have been needing to motivate you to study harder than hard for the upcoming and brain-busting MCT.  Guess what??  You can either COMPLETELY SUCCEED or . . . UTTERLY FAIL.  Try it today!  Try it tomorrow!  Try it the day after yesterday!  Try it the day before tomorrow!  Try it the day in-between!  Try it once, then try it again, then try it a MILLION times!

If you don't get the ENTIRE TEST right the first time, try again!  If you get the entire test right the FIRST TIME, try it again!!  If you are talented enough to get HALF of it right, try it again!!!

If this test doesn't prepare you for the MCT, I don't know WHAT will.  I read on someone else's practice test description that if their test were evaluated by the Shelby Kennedy Foundation it would be sure to receive an A . . . .  Well, there was something missing from that, and they'll be sure to be pounding their head against the wall that they absoLUTEly set themselves up for being topped by . . . none other than ME!!!!!!!  This test would most asSUREdly receive an evaluation of an A PLUS.  No ordinary As for us here!  All the As have been taken by these amazing practice tests written by some . . . Hannah Chew??  You ever heard of her?  Nice name, and even nicer practice tests.  But lemme tell you . . . this is the NICEST test of them all!!  Take it today, remember!

Quit freaking out about the MCT!

~ Whoever had the crazy idea to make a one-question practice test and the even crazier idea to do Bible Bee in the first place

Everything We Did to Prepare for NBCC 2025

Each year, as we begin our journey of studying for the National Bible Bee Competition, I try to reach back to the recesses of my brain to remember what we did *last* year. There are, of course, things that we do every year, but things are always changing and I find that I am constantly making adjustments. Also, getting started with study materials is daunting, even if you have been doing it for several years. So, in the name of posterity and as a help to others (and my future self), I decided to document the study materials that we actually used this year. My preparation focuses on materials for the Study Passage (useful for everyone) and all things related to Primaries. Our Junior kids are often somewhere in between independence and needing some support, so I did have some Junior-specific materials this year. However, the Seniors are on their own! Mom's BB Notebooks. :) Planning Gathering study materials for NBBC is a big task, and like all big tasks, planning is key. I usually st...

Books and Resources to Study Ephesians UPDATED

I don't know about you, but I am excited to be diving into the Book of Ephesians this Bible Bee season! Sometimes it can be hard to find good resources, so I wanted to put together a list of study resources and books that have helped us immensely over the years. This post DOES NOT contain any affiliate links .  Background Study and Maps For some wonderful background information, check out The Bible Journey. We have used this many times over the years and have really enjoyed it! Read about historical background, view photos of the locations you are researching, and check out their maps. Edited to add: We love the Drive Thru History series. Acts to Revelation is perfect for studying Ephesians. It is also currently streaming on Amazon . A few years ago I purchased some large Bible wall maps. This set is similar and is a smaller size, making it a bit easier to find space to hang them. All About Cross-References, Part 2

Continued on from here .  What about context? Context is the key to interpreting Scripture.  The list below may seem overwhelming, but it is really just a list of questions that you can ask about a passage of Scripture to help you understand its meaning in its literary, historical, geographical, and cultural context. Not every questions applies to every passage. The best place to begin is by asking yourself, "What information is not provided in the passage that is necessary for me to understand what is being said/what is happening?" Here are some considerations as you get started. When looking at the context of cross-references, it is important to note the following: Literary Style - What type of writing is the passage?  Then ask some of the questions listed under each style.  You do not need to ask all of the questions.  In fact, some passages will not have answers to all of them.  For descriptions of the styles look here . Epistle Who is writing? Who i...
