Study for Bible Bee

NBBC 2025 has come and gone and I’m sure that dads out there can relate to having to pass through the event and then having to jump back into full-time work and life without a break. There have been many recaps written already, so my goal is to provide my perspective of the event from a dad’s perspective with the hopes that in its blandness, it may or may not be encouraging to other dads (and the rest of the family unit, obviously), and even if it’s verbose and rambly. Firstly, Sandusky, Ohio. The Kalahari resort proved to be well-equipped for the event and for the families attending ‘Nationals’. The Lord provided a 3-bedroom suite with a full kitchen (albeit, small kitchen. Full for some, small for us, but then again most kitchens and other rooms of the sort end up feeling small for us). Each year, as we begin our journey of studying for the National Bible Bee Competition, I try to reach back to the recesses of my brain to remember what we did *last* year. There are, of course, things that we do every year, but things are always changing and I find that I am constantly making adjustments. Also, getting started with study materials is daunting, even if you have been doing it for several years. So, in the name of posterity and as a help to others (and my future self), I decided to document the study materials that we actually used this year. My preparation focuses on materials for the Study Passage (useful for everyone) and all things related to Primaries. Our Junior kids are often somewhere in between independence and needing some support, so I did have some Junior-specific materials this year. However, the Seniors are on their own!
