Two Dozen REALLY WEIRD Ephesians Questions (NKJV)

Hey folks!

Here at the House on Chew Corner we learn to embrace all different study methods especially when you're doing stuff weirdly because you can't stay focused on what you're supposed to be doing.  And when your Ephesians study for the day consists largely of deliberately scouring the study passage and cross-references for weirdness, well, we just say that at least you learned something!

This is a Kahoot with two dozen REALLY WEIRD questions to help you remember Ephesians and related stuff.  It's division neutral, but NOT version neutral.  Some of the questions are unashamedly NKJV specific.  But y'all who use other versions will probably have a ton of fun as well, just you may be a little confused here and there.  I set the time limits super long: a minute per question for all the questions, so enjoy taking your time!  I'm usually super cruel and make the time limits tight, but I wanted y'all to appreciate the greatness and hilarity of these questions.

That bein' said, go play the Kahoot and have fun doin' it!

Everything We Did to Prepare for NBCC 2025

Each year, as we begin our journey of studying for the National Bible Bee Competition, I try to reach back to the recesses of my brain to remember what we did *last* year. There are, of course, things that we do every year, but things are always changing and I find that I am constantly making adjustments. Also, getting started with study materials is daunting, even if you have been doing it for several years. So, in the name of posterity and as a help to others (and my future self), I decided to document the study materials that we actually used this year. My preparation focuses on materials for the Study Passage (useful for everyone) and all things related to Primaries. Our Junior kids are often somewhere in between independence and needing some support, so I did have some Junior-specific materials this year. However, the Seniors are on their own! Mom's BB Notebooks. :) Planning Gathering study materials for NBBC is a big task, and like all big tasks, planning is key. I usually st...

Books and Resources to Study Ephesians UPDATED

I don't know about you, but I am excited to be diving into the Book of Ephesians this Bible Bee season! Sometimes it can be hard to find good resources, so I wanted to put together a list of study resources and books that have helped us immensely over the years. This post DOES NOT contain any affiliate links .  Background Study and Maps For some wonderful background information, check out The Bible Journey. We have used this many times over the years and have really enjoyed it! Read about historical background, view photos of the locations you are researching, and check out their maps. Edited to add: We love the Drive Thru History series. Acts to Revelation is perfect for studying Ephesians. It is also currently streaming on Amazon . A few years ago I purchased some large Bible wall maps. This set is similar and is a smaller size, making it a bit easier to find space to hang them. All About Cross-References, Part 2

Continued on from here .  What about context? Context is the key to interpreting Scripture.  The list below may seem overwhelming, but it is really just a list of questions that you can ask about a passage of Scripture to help you understand its meaning in its literary, historical, geographical, and cultural context. Not every questions applies to every passage. The best place to begin is by asking yourself, "What information is not provided in the passage that is necessary for me to understand what is being said/what is happening?" Here are some considerations as you get started. When looking at the context of cross-references, it is important to note the following: Literary Style - What type of writing is the passage?  Then ask some of the questions listed under each style.  You do not need to ask all of the questions.  In fact, some passages will not have answers to all of them.  For descriptions of the styles look here . Epistle Who is writing? Who i...
